Welcome to the Growth Projections Page
The Institutional Research (IR) Department has provided the Education Master Plan Committee (EMPC) with growth projections expressing FTES growth for the next seven years. These projections are intended to be used for two functions.
- One function is to provide departments, divisionsand locations an estimated projection of FTES growth and the sections needed to meet this growth. These Excel spreadsheets will be updated by IR as revisions are made.
- The second function is to longitudinally track FTES growth against the estimated projections.
Follow the link on each abbreviated department/division/location name to view the individual FTES growth projections in Excel format. You can also view the growth projections on the Area Ed Planning Groups page and quick link in the side bar.
Included at the bottom of this page are the basis for these growth projections, a summary sheet and an opportunity to view all spreadsheets in one Excel workbook.

If I understand correctly, the estimates for Mendocino Coast population are based on what the Chancellor's office provides and depend on zip codes. Unfortunately, data from other Mendocino Coast institutions (such as Mendocino Coast District Hospital) indicate that these estimates may be inaccurate. Zip code data probably include vacation homes that are only occupied in teh summer, and vacation rentals owned by residents living at other addresses that are rented out to short time visitors. Thus, the zip code data may not reflect true population statistics. The "lives covered" by MCDH include 10,000 in the primary service area and 30,000 in the extended area that goes from Westport to Gualala and includes inland areas not in the Redwoods Community College District, including areas closer to other community colleges such as Mendocino College. These numbers also include lives from birth to death, not the age groups most likely to attend our college. It may be a minor factor but data accuracy is something we should strive for in our planning.
